What Customers Say About Canon PowerShot A580 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom:

It's a bit above four, but it just doesn't quite make five for my standards. It's nearly indestructible (I've dropped it about a million times, taking it horseback riding, shoved it into a gym bag that was thrown all over a bus, and carried it with me on numerous adventures while traveling in Spain).

I plan on maybe upgrading to a more high-end camera because I'm moving into professional photography, but I've taken some beautiful, crisp pictures with this camera, and I definitely recommend it, for families, kids, travelers, or anyone really. It takes better pictures than their slim, colorful ones ANY day.

I'm sixteen, and a few friends have teased me about my 'old lady camera', but you know what. The Cons list didn't affect me at all because I don't take indoor pictures or night pictures, and I never use the flash because I'm always outside.

I wish I could rate this camera as 4 1/2 stars. There are several pros and just a few cons to this camera.Pros:-beautiful, crisp outdoor pictures-hardly any shutter lag-easy to use for the technologically impaired-takes OK videos (for a camera)-doesn't eat batteries like Kodak-has lots of settings if you want to do it manually-takes great action shots; hardly any blur-big enough to feel solid and indestructible, but small enough to be compact-good zoom-pictures can be blown up and still look awesomeCons:-indoor pictures aren't too great; they either come out blurry or dark w/out flash or way too unnaturally bright w/flash-same with nighttime pictures-when using flash, shutter lag is much longer and is often inconvenientOverall, for the money, this camera is awesome.

I highly recommend this camera.

I was very disappointed with the camera, the battery holder does not shut all the way and it causes the battery to not last very long. I will not order from this person again.

It is not the best camera for a serious photographer, but it works great for my educational purposes. So far it has performed very well. I needed a low cost, functional digital camera for my middle school science classroom. It is used by myself and dozens of students. And the price was right.

Really easy to put pic's on my computer and share them. I really like this camera. It does use AA battaries but with 4 kids I keep a lot of those on hand. Just a great camera that fits in your hand, slides in a purse to go anywhere and be ready at all times to take great pic's of kids. The features that I wanted was EASY to operate, point and shoot camera. wow - what a great camera. That is exactly what I got. Also, I have been told that if I would use the lithium AA they would last longer.

(Compare with Canon A590 IS before you buy)Pros:- 8 megapixel- Excellent image quality. Automatically detects, tracks, focuses and optimizes the exposure on up-to nine human faces in the frame.

When you turn on the camera, you can almost shoot right away.- Huge 2.5 LCD screen + viewfinder- Manual control for ISO (80 to 1600)- Built-in speaker - Shoots 640x480 video with audioCons:- Feels small and awkward in your hands- Looks Uses 2 regular double AA batteries.

- Good in low light- Long battery life. - Fast startup.

Excellent entry level camera for your $. It has Canon's Digic III image processor.- Canon Genuine Face Detection Technology.

- Zoom is 4X.
